K. Derek Kreitel, MD

Neurointerventional Surgeon, President

Dr. Kreitel came to Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital in 2013 after completing Medical School at the University of Cincinnati and Radiology Residency, Neuroradiology Fellowship, and Neurointerventional Radiology Fellowship at the University of Virginia under the tutelage of Lee Jensen, MD. He currently serves as the President of CNS and participates actively in the Beacon Kalamazoo Heart, Vascular, Stroke, and IR Service Line. He is devoted to educating patients and their families and prides himself on providing the highest quality of cutting edge neurointerventional care with excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction. He and his wife are the proud parents of two boys, and they love spending their free time with their family and friends at their lake house on Torch Lake.

Michael Adix, MD

Neurointerventional Surgeon, Vice President

Dr. Adix came to Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital in 2017 after completing Medical School at the University of Iowa, Radiology Residency and Neuroradiology Fellowship at the University of Michigan, and Neurointerventional Radiology Fellowship at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center under the tutelage of In Sup Choi, MD. He currently serves as the Vice President of CNS and the Medical director of the Beacon Kalamazoo Comprehensive Stroke Center and participates actively in the Beacon Kalamazoo Heart, Vascular, Stroke, and IR Service Line. He believes that providing the highest quality patient care starts with building strong personal relationships with patients and their families and taking the time to ensure they are fully informed and feel well cared for. His meticulous approach to performing procedures allows him to maximize safety and achieve the best possible outcomes. He and his wife gain endless joy from watching their two young boys grow and learn about the world around them.

Kali Barrow, NP

Neurointerventional APP

Kali joined the Beacon Kalamazoo Neurointerventional Surgery team in 2017 after having spent 7 years as a nurse at Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital primarily in critical care. She received her Bachelors of Science and Nursing degrees from Michigan State University and her Nurse Practitioner degree from Walden University. In addition to serving as the glue that keeps the Neurointerventional Surgery service together, she devotes her time to educating patients and their families and providing the support they need. She has a special interest in promoting overall wellness as well as treating acute and chronic conditions by using a team-oriented approach. She strongly believes that managing any medical condition is best achieved through collaboration with the patient, their family, and their other medical providers. She also serves as an integral member of the Beacon Kalamazoo Comprehensive Stroke Center by helping to organize and facilitate research, quality improvement, and outreach projects.
